C HAPTER 5: FINAL THOUGHTS
Summary
Well, this concludes the 8 Steps to your Birthmom Search. And this brings to a close this POWERFUL book. Let’s take a moment to revisit what we’ve learned.
In Chapter 1, I guaranteed that this book would provide ideas, techniques and tools that you would not find anywhere else. I hope you agree that I’ve fulfilled this promise to the fullest.
In Chapter 2, I promised that THERE IS HOPE. There is hope for anyone who does not want to sit idly by and "just wait" the two, three or even four years that it takes to complete a traditional adoption. There is hope if you are willing to engage in MASSIVE ACTION and MAKE IT HAPPEN!
In Chapter 3, I introduced the unique (and perhaps weird) idea of applying sound, business-based Direct Marketing techniques to your Birthmom search. Armed with these ideas and your TWO Search Goals, your search will be UNSTOPPABLE!
Finally, in Chapter 4, I laid out the 8 STEPS TO SUCCESS. Lets look at each one in summary:
Step 1: Articulate your Goals. Clearly, the focus of this book was to 1) Find a Birthmom interested in creating an adoption plan for her unborn or newborn child. And 2) find lots of people to help you find that Birthmom.
Step 2: Define your Messages, your Audiences and your "Calls to Action". For each audience, you are now able to articulate a specific message and call to action.
Step 3: Contacting "Everyone Else". In this step, we defined the exact tools needed to communicate in an "ongoing" way with hundreds (even thousands) of people with the intent of asking for their help with your Birthmom search. Thus, putting into action the combination of the POWER of Echo Marketing and the POWER of Awareness.
Step 4: Contacting Birthmoms: Your Non-Identifying Information System. Birthmoms need a safe non-identifying way to learn about you. All of those you have asked to help with your search need a "place" to send Birthmoms to safely learn about you. This information system is the answer.
Step 5: Assembling Your "Inner Circle". The amount of work that is required to find a Birthmom can be overwhelming. That is why YOU DON’T WANT TO DO IT ALONE. You will be smart if you ask for help. That help comes from your "Inner Circle". This engages the POWER of Exponential Effort.
Step 6: Acquiring names and addresses. The first responsibility for your Inner Circle members is to assemble and manage lists of the names and addresses of everyone they personally know, and the groups of which they are a part. Here, the POWER of Endorsement is launched into full use.
Step 7: Preparing your Endorsed Mail Campaign. A letter must be opened if it is to be read. It is through the personal endorsement as shown on the envelope's RETURN LABEL that ensures the "A-Pile" status of your letters and postcards.
Step 8: Your Inner Circle Work Party. It is often said that, "Many hands make light work". I will add that, "Many pocketbooks share the cost of stamps, envelops and other mailing supplies." A Work Party is a wonderful way to engage your Inner Circle members in a quick burst of effort to get an enormous amount of work done…in a short period of time.
As your Inner Circle members come by your home to greet your newly adopted child, they will all feel pride that they were part of the team that MADE IT HAPPEN!
