Gold Step 6: Acquiring Names and Addresses
As you begin working with your newly initiated Inner Circle members, offer the following list of "thought starters" (following page) as a way to help them begin creating their list of 100. (Remember, you can download an emailable and/or faxable copy of these two thought starter pages from the Download page.)
Suggest that they follow these steps to come up with their list.
1. Brainstorm to create lists of everybody they know, and of every group that they are a part of. Use the "thought starters" list to help.
2. Secure a directory or listing of the names, addresses (and emails if possible) for everyone in each group. This could be a church directory, a school directory, a sports team roster, etc. (Remember, this may take several days to complete.)
3. Cross OFF anybody on each list where there is a negative relationship. (This is very important.) There surely is no point in mailing to somebody that your Circle member terribly dislikes (or who dislikes them).
4. Leave ON the list EVERYBODY else…even if your Circle member hardly knows them. Here, the Thread of Connection will take over.
For example, if the list is a Yoga class, the simple fact that both your Circle member and a Yoga class memeber have the same Yoga class in common is a common enough "thread" to solicit interest and support. The Yoga class itself is the Thread of Connection.
"Thought Starters"
The next page are "Thought Starter" pages to help your Inner Circle members come up with names and addresses. The 1st page lists their direct circle’s of influence. The 2nd page lists more casual relationships, listing any and everyone else they may know or knew.
REMEMBER, these are just thought starters. Encourage each Circle member to come up with many more ideas and names.
