POWER Concept #1: The POWER of ECHO, Echo, Echo Marketing
Echo Marketing is the #1 TOP technique used if you wish to hold a sustained presence in the mind of your audience. It is the technique that most marketers either don’t understand, fail to learn, or choose to ignore. And their marketing efforts fail because of it.
But you will use it to reach and move to action, hundreds (even thousands) of people to help with your Birthmom search.
Simply put, the way you get your message heard … and more importantly, the way you get people to respond … is through:
Repetition, Repetition, Repetition Frequency, Frequency, Frequency
I am referring to the secret of SEQUENCED, STEPPED, "ECHO" Marketing.
Like an echo, your first communication in Echo Marketing will be loud, strong and clear. Then your follow-up messages will be stepped, sequenced and repetitive, offering information that "complements" the original.
Like an echo, your messages must be sent in a carefully planned, repetitive manner … for as long as it takes … to receive your desired action. And like an echo, each subsequent message will be a bit softer than the previous one, but still very "audible".
Please UNDERSTAND THIS. This is the most powerful thing you are going to learn to ensure success with the search of your new child!
You will be making a huge mistake if you send your message to your contact list only once.
Your search will stall; you won’t find a Birthmom quickly; you will have wasted your money on this book, and on your single mailing!
I don't think I can be much clearer than that!
Many people in an adoption search want to resist this technique. They may be concerned that Echo Marketing will be "imposing" on their audience, or they may be concerned that it will cost a lot of money.
First, the money issue. Later in this book, I will discuss your "Inner Circle". If you follow my guidance, you will have many people helping you defer the costs of your campaign to find your perfect Birthmother. Much more on this in Step 5 of this chapter.
Next, regarding the concern that you might be imposing on your audience, you may ask yourself, "Am I being a pest with these mailings?" "Is my audience getting tired of me?"
The answer to these questions is a resounding, Absolutely not!
Each person you contact will only be getting one letter or postcard from you every three to four weeks. And your letter or postcard, while brief, will be upbeat, positive and interesting.
Considering all the bills, catalogs and junk mail these people will get everyday in between your mailings, your periodic letter or postcard will actually be a welcome and interesting relief from the normal "grind" of other mailbox stuff.
Your audience will begin looking forward to your mail, to see if you have your child yet. And the more they become emotionally involved with your search, the keener their awareness will be to recognizing adoption opportunities for you.
NO ONE will consider these mailings an imposition!
So why does Echo Marketing work so well? In marketing "speak", the answer is simple.
People (that do not know you) will need to see your message at least two to four times before they will feel comfortable enough to take action. After that, they will actually start to feel they KNOW you.
Another reason why this works so well is this.
We all need to be reminded and nudged from time to time. Through Echo Marketing, you will create remembrance and recognition for your message and request. When people receive that second and third and sixth letter or post card, they will become more "in tune" with your request to notice and act upon "adoption opportunities".
Why? Because maybe they didn’t read your first letter the first time, or they read only part of it, or they read it then forgot about it.
Remember that your audience members have their own lives to live. They may have read your Introduction Letter and had wonderful intentions to help. But as time went by, and they didn’t experience any "adoption opportunities" … their awareness may have faded.
Receiving a letter three or four weeks later will re-activate their awareness. A letter, again, three weeks after that will build their awareness even stronger.
Even the most motivated people who are interested in helping you will get "caught up" at work, at home, at church, or where ever.
It is up to you to regularly remind them about you and your search for the Birthmom of your future adopted child.
On the GOLD section of this website, I show you how to write (and provide examples of) a whole library of sequenced Echo Marketing mail pieces . . . and set each mail piece to a specific mailing schedule. You will use both letters and post cards as you keep in contact with your audience.
To take this concept to the Internet, read, " Journey to Adoption - Online Techniques" for ways to completely automate this process, creating a "set it and forget it" email-based contact system.
When Do You Stop Mailing to your contact lists?
Lets see. When do you stop sending reminder, "Echo" mailings to your audience? Boy! Let me think. Well.
HELLO! You stop ONLY WHEN you have your adopted child in your arms! And not a moment before!
And even then, there still will be one more post card to send…
…that will be your "GREAT NEWS" post card, sharing the wonderful news of your adopted child with all those who have been a part of your search.
Lets move on to POWER #2 ...
