Step 5: Assembling Your "Inner Circle"
The amount of work that is required to find a Birthmom can be overwhelming.
That is why YOU DO NOT WANT TO DO IT ALONE. You will be smart if you ask for help. But I suggest that you ask for help in a very specific way. That is...by creating your "Inner Circle".
Your Inner Circle
Your Inner Circle is a very special group of between 5 to 10 people or couples that you will rely on to help find the Birthmom of your future adopted child. Your Inner Circle will be made up of 5 to 10 couples or individuals (so there may be a few more than 10 people total) who are your VERY closest family and friends.
These people care for you deeply and you care for them deeply in return. Your Inner Circle will be deeply involved in your Birthmom search.
The Role of Inner Circle Members
As you recruit these couples and individuals, use the Inner Circle Responsibilities list below to explain what they will be committing to. Be sure to ask for complete honesty as they agree or disagree to be part of your Inner Circle.
If they honestly feel they cannot commit to these items, they must feel welcome to bow out now. You surely do not want them resenting you later for "burdening" them with responsibilities that they were not prepared to accept.
Inner Circle Responsibilities:
• "Evangelize" your Adoption search to everyone they know or meet.
• Assemble and manage names and addresses of at least 100 people (and email addresses if your using my "Online Techniques" book) of everyone they personally know, and of the groups of which they are a part. This would include but not be limited to work, church, school (theirs and their kids), sports teams, bridge clubs, health clubs, country clubs, Doctors, accounts, lawyers, etc.,
• Assist in the process of addressing, stamping and mailing letters for the many mailing campaigns. (See Inner Circle Work Party below.)
• Help in defraying the costs of the mailing campaigns by purchasing their own stamps, envelopes, copies and supplies. This could represent up to several hundred dollars.
• Provide moral and emotional support through the ups and downs of this search process.
Regarding the second to last item on the list above, do not be shy about asking for help with paying for the stamps and supplies. Adoption is an expensive process. You will have plenty of other places to spend your money.
Let your Inner Circle help with these expenses. They will actually be grateful that you let them help!
Why an Inner Circle?
More than just helping with work and defraying some costs, YOU NEED an Inner Circle because it puts into action two of the four POWERS of Marketing that I will introduce to you now.
Power Concept #3: The Power Of Exponential Effort and Power Concept #4: The Power Of Endorsement.
SIDEBAR: We must take an Important Sidebar to introduce the final 2 POWER Marketing Concepts.
